My vision is to offer licensed, board-certified professional counseling to individuals whose spiritual journey is as much a part of their lives as any other aspect. A professional service should not be held to lower standards just because it is a "Christian" service. In fact, it should be held to a higher standard than required. This pursuit of excellence is part of why I have acquired national board certification and why I continue to pursue professional certifications in my field.
I have been helping those with behavioral and mental health problems since 2000. I have worked with special-needs children and adults with acquired brain injury. I have also conducted group and individual therapy sessions with individuals covering most diagnoses.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania, and a Board Certified Professional Counselor. I received my BA in Psychology from Eastern University. I received my MA in Professional Counseling from Liberty University.

I have grown up in the church, almost literally. My father has been a pastor most of my life. I have attended Church consistently, and my education has been predominately Christian in nature. I have studied theology and Biblical literature at conservative universities like Liberty and Hesston (Mennonite College in Kansas). I also have a good grasp of the liberal standpoint as I tended to rebel against my parents teachings while in my youth. Most importantly, I am able to explore the beliefs of individuals, help them understand what they believe, and why they believe it. Then we can explore how these beliefs impact that person's feelings and behaviors.
Initial consultation is offered at no cost to give client and therapist an opportunity to discuss logistics, finances, schedules, and to see if everyone agrees that the combination seems to be a good, therapeutic match. These sessions are scheduled for 30 minutes, but sometimes last longer.
Individual sessions are a convergence of my expertise about human psychology, and your expertise about you. Each person is different. For many, this has become a catch phrase, but the reality is that everyone is different from everyone else, and even from themselves in different times in life. While techniques and theories that are statistically strong are a good place to start, they are not always the solution. Even a technique that helps 99% of people, has statistical strength that means nothing if you are part of the other one percent.
Relationships are complicated, and the more preparation that is done before the marriage-portion of the relationship starts, the more successful the marriage will be. Topics such as spiritual foundation, view of finances, communication styles, fighting styles, sexual history and expectations, mixed families, families of origin, the meaning of marriage, careers, children, and whether the toilet paper should lay over the top or fall out from behind the roll can be very important to address before making a life-long commitment. I am certified with SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts), the premarital counseling.
Marriage is a covenant between two people before God. While marriage is used as an analogy for the ideal relationship between Christ and the Church, marriage always has two people. And since people are flawed, there is usually room for improvement. There are many common topics that emerge; communication, love, respect, sex, spiritual life, infidelity, emotional availability. Marriage counseling addresses identified and not-yet-identified problems in marriage through the lens of God’s thoughts on holy matrimony.
